Working with individuals and couples

My practice is trauma-informed and I work with many issues, including depression and anxiety. People sometimes ask me if they are ‘allowed’ to bring sex-related subjects to therapy, and my answer is very much yes. I am glad to offer a safe space to explore this fundamental aspect of human existence. I work integratively, using psychodynamic, relational and person-centred approaches. I work with couples as well as individuals.

Offering a safe space

Clients who are GSRD identified, (whether LGBTQIA+, kinky, non-monogamous or sex workers) often approach therapy with trepidation, having had their orientation, lifestyle or identity pathologised or simply misunderstood. I have spent a number of years promoting sexual awareness through the media and events, and feel that sexual self-knowledge - along with understanding our gender and truly inhabiting it - is a lifelong work in progress.

My other therapeutic interests include family estrangement, identity, somatics and the body, and the effects and significance of social media.

I am an Advanced Accredited GSRD Therapist, awarded by Pink Therapy.

I am a Accredited Registrant member of the National Counselling Society.

I have a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London. My dissertation was about Queer Menopause, and how therapists and other healthcare practitioners can best support and validate their queer menopausal clients.

Previous career

My first career was in the arts and media, as a writer and broadcaster/performer. My years as a writer taught me a huge amount about communication and language. It’s a privilege to be able to use my experience to help others make sense of their feelings.
